Hospitalist

A hospitalist is a provider who specializes in caring for patients while they are in the hospital. Hospitalists work closely with your primary care provider and frequently inform him or her of your condition.

When you require hospitalization, your provider or an Emergency Department physician will coordinate your admission with a hospitalist. The hospitalists are on site 24 hours a day and work closely with all hospital staff to coordinate your care.

Lerissa Ann Antonio, MD is part of our Health First hospitalist team. Dr. Antonio completed her Internal Medicine Residency at Memorial Health University Medical Center at Mercer University in Savannah, GA. She earned her Doctor of Medicine at Ross University School of Medicine in Roseau, Dominica. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Sciences from the University of South Florida in Tampa, FL.

Before arriving at Health First, Dr. Antonio worked as a hospitalist at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital in Greensboro, NC and at Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah, GA.

Dr. Antonio is a member of the American Medical Association, Society of Hospital Medicine and the American College of Physicians. She plays the piano and violin, enjoys traveling, and is a certified PADI Advanced SCUBA diver.
